Letter to Friends and Family Edit in email or copy/paste the text below: Hi, The BC provincial election is on May 9, 2017. Now is the time to send all political parties a clear message on the issues we care about. I just signed a pledge telling my MLA that I’m going to vote for the candidate who will take action on poverty and immediately raise social assistance rates to livable levels. I’m hoping you will do the same. Poverty in BC is at a crisis point. In addition to the direct human costs of poverty, the lack of provincial government action costs us as much as $9 billion a year while a program to actually address poverty would cost less than half that amount. Raising welfare and disability rates must be at the heart of any plan to end poverty. Take the pledge at https://nopovertybc.ca/pledge and join the campaign to hold our politicians accountable.
